Do you need a business / economics degree at a stock trader?

you can be an English major and can still become a trader. finance courses do help. securities firms essentially seek people with soft skills (ie, decisive, risk taker, quick thinking, aggressive, etc.).

No, but you usually need to put one foot in the door at a reputable firm if you are a beginner. Once you are in the field of sheepskin, it is worthless.

You must be a great sales person and be willing to work very hard. Completion help .... but there are many success story, English etc
majors do as well as dealers (there are many who do so little ).........

I think you only need the knowledge to be effective, the software which will provide brokers and some capital.
