Steamer Mop

Steamer MopWhat is a steam mop?

Could the steamer do the traditional mop and bucket obsolete as the vacuum sweeper broom replaced a few years ago? It is too early to tell. However, it is a fact that these hard floor cleaning gadgets are gaining favor with consumers, who do not want to spend their whole hand on Saturday morning scrubbing their floors.

Many different brands of steam mops are available. Although there are minor differences, these gadgets are basically the same thing. They clean the floors with steam instead of soap and detergents.

They can be used on various types of floor coverings such as tile, linoleum, hardwood and sealed flooring. Some even an extra add-on that allows them to be used on carpet. They should not be used on unsealed wood floors. In addition, no-wax floors can be damaged by the hot steam generated by these machines. Hot steam is also potentially dangerous to the glue that adheres to certain types of flooring.

If you are concerned about the safety of using a steam mop on the floor, there are some steps to take. One measure is to contact the manufacturer of your floor and learn more.

Be sure to read the instructions that come with your Steam Mop. However, here is a basic overview of how these machines work:

1. Fill the tank with either tap or distilled water. Most ask that you use distilled if your water is hard.

2. The machines will come with a cleaning pad to be attached to the base of the mop before powering.

3. Make sure your hands are dry. Connect the machine and give it time to heat. For most brands, it takes about one minute.

4. Start the process of steaming. Some brands are tripping, while others use a pumping action on the handle to start this process.

5. Drag the mop head on the floor, adding more steam than necessary. To disinfect, read the manufacturer's instructions. Most recommend that you leave the device in place for a certain period of time (eg, 10-15 seconds) for sanitation.

6. When through, turn the machine off and unplug it. Moreover, including this time all you need to replenish the water tank or replace the cleaning pad.

7. To store the machine, read the instructions. Most recommended to empty the water tank, remove the cleaning pad, packaging and abuse cord.

Overall, steam mops are a little handy device that makes the chore of cleaning floors more tolerable.
