Longevity Pill

Longevity PillWonder Pill

An international team of scientists is on track to develop what it claims is the "long life" super pill that could help people live a long and healthy life well over 100 years.

Scientists say the drug, designed to mimic the actions of three genes in the longevity of assistance that could be ready for testing within three years, British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported.

It follows the discovery of three different genes that all increase significantly the chances of living past 100. Two genes increase the production of cholesterol called good in the body, thus reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke, while the third prevents diabetes

He said: "The biology we try to find out is that if we can reproduce that, so long life can be really fantastic," he also asserts that the gene also cautioned against the lethal effects of smoking, poor Diet, obesity and lack of exercise.

The research team that opened the way for development of the pill, led by Nir Barzilai Dr., director of the Institute for Aging Research and professor of medicine and molecular genetics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, said that different laboratories are now in the process of creating the pill that causes the same effects as genes.

M. Barzilai began by examining the DNA of a select group of centenarians. The group consisted of 500 healthy Ashkenazi Jews with an average age of 100 living in New York, and the researchers wanted to know if they share traits that may account for their long life.

After reviewing two million genetic markers, researchers have identified three "super genes" common to class members who are key to two things: 1) prolong life beyond 100, and 2) prevention of common diseases with old age. Two of the three genes increase the production of good cholesterol, thereby reducing the risk of stroke and heart disease, while the third carried out diabetes. The chance to possess DNA with a strong all three genes are also 80% less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease.

The study found both physical and dietary influences. In a statement to the Daily Mail, said Dr. Brasilia, 30% of them were obese or overweight and 30% had smoked two packs of cigarettes a day for over 40 years. Because our centenarians have longevity genes, they are protected against most effects of the environment.

Those who have the longevity genes have a chance to live on 500 to 100, while the less fortunate have a chance in 10,000.

Dr. Barzilai believes that the results of the study will prove a blessing for everyone, opening the door to extending the average life expectancy, while reducing the disease in old age. "The advantage of finding a gene that implies longevity is that we can just develop a drug that will reproduce exactly what the gene is made. The biology we try to discover is that if we can reproduce it, so long life can be really fantastic. "

He said that several laboratories are now racing to create a pill mimicking the effects of three genes that promote a long healthy life. He expects a pill will be ready for testing in three years.
