Dermatologist FacialCan facial exercises prevent wrinkles?

Looking for an inexpensive way to prevent wrinkles, crows feet and laugh lines that come with age? Fear of injections of Botox or going under the knife? The latest fashion these days are facial exercises which is supposed to keep skin healthy and youthful.

Regular exercise face, we are told, will improve muscle tone and circulation. Proponents say this, in turn, leads to improved collagen and elastin production, smaller pores due to balanced oil distribution, and elimination of pockets or excess fluids. When you've finished half an hour every day, exercises for the face would reduce the existing wrinkles and prevent potential to form.

The exercises are easy to make and can be done in front of a mirror at home. Because they can get ridiculous, it is advisable to keep your door locked. One exercise involves chewing with the lips closed, sitting and staring at the ceiling. Another exercise you can do when you are sitting is to keep your mouth and drop your jaw while pushing it forward. Or you can push your lips forward as far as possible to form an exaggerated "O" with the mouth, then smile as hard as you can. To do this, in turn for about 10 seconds.

Dermatologists said facial exercises have their place in medicine. Because of their ability to stimulate blood flow and circulation, these exercises are typically used to relieve tension and prepare the skin for treatment. They can help facilitate lymphatic drainage and eliminate lymphatic fluid that contains more dirt and debris.

"Facial Gymnastics is often used by estheticians and nurses prior to facials, microdermabrasion, chemical treatments and Peel. The doctor may recommend facial exercise to treat certain medical conditions such as TMJ pain syndrome. ATM is characterized by a defective movement of the TMJ and symptoms of facial pain, headaches and other ill at ease, "said Linda Nelson, Skin Authority national technical director.

"Facial Gymnastics is often done by moving the fingertips in an upward, outward motion over different areas of the face. Practitioners may massage areas or slightly pinch around the brow where facial tension is concentrated . They may massage along the jaw line or at the hinges of the jaw and cheekbones to help manage the ATM, "said Nelson.

But the jury is still exercises that are done at home that experts consider questionable. On the one hand, the muscles of the face are different from other muscles of the body and do not respond to exercise by becoming bigger or more toned. If facial exercises really worked, dermatologists said we should all have big plump faces now talking, smiling, blinking, and eating.

Secondly, rather than prevent wrinkles, these exercises could create more wrinkles and sagging skin due to their improper downward movements. Dermatologists have said they may also deepen existing lines by forcing the face into unnatural expressions. If you really want to prevent wrinkles, you do not look stupid in front of a mirror. Instead of following these tips:

"Experts suggest avoiding these common habits that cause wrinkles squint (sunglasses when glare is strong), sipping through a straw (encourages lip lines), cleaning your face vigorously while cleansing, and, leaning your chin or cheek on your hand or the phone, "said WDStyle.
