Bumper Pad Safety

Bumper Pad SafetyAt what age should you take the bumper of a baby's crib?

My baby is 5 months old, and I do not know when I should pull the bumper pad from its cradle. I have an older daughter, but I do not remember what they told me when she was little. For some reason I think when she is old enough to start pulling up, but I do not really know. I know it can be for security reasons, b / c she could sufficate, but I also thought it was so they can not get caught up in the slates. Thank you all for your help!

It depends who you ask. Some say they do not use bumper pads at all now, because it inhibits the flow of air to the baby.
However, if you do use them, they must be removed at the age of 5-6 months. If your child can run, they may ride and get stuck under the bumper which can cause suffocation.
In addition, if your child can walk early, he / she can use the bumper as a step. (My first child was walking at 7 1 / 2 months, so it was an important factor for us)

Hope that helps.

I have mine out of their beds when they started pulling up and standing. This way, you do not have to worry about them tangles in it.

Right when they can roll over. It is possible that the baby can roll over and somehow wound and reduce more, make a choking or strangulation possible.

Here's what should help:

You should never remove the padding from the cradle of a baby. They will not need them once they are in their own regular bed.

The padding should be hidden between the mattress and the railing. This is to ensure that the arms and legs of the baby does not get stuck between the bars.

Hello! I wove in and bumper strips off in the bed of my son. I was worried about the thing choking, too, but did not want to bang your head against the bars, either. Works for us! Allison

Bumper pads are not recommended in Canada, they are never safe at any age. They cut the flow of air into the feeders and increase the risk of SIDS. You can find this online anywhere.

I would not leave until she is old enough to get out of trouble, like sticking his arm into the slots of the crib. My biggest fear is taking his arm the night and end up breaking it.

Hey, if you have, use it.

You are right. I remember saying that when the baby is old enough to go back bumper must be removed ... I guess they are worried about choking

Once they are able to explore and move on hands and knees.

I was told when they can use to get out of the crib, it is time to remove it. Thank you for the reminder, my 7 months draws to suffer, probably time to take his on!

You should be at least 30 before taking such an important decision.

Love, Jack
