Should I become a Mary Kay beauty consultant? My friend is Mary Kay beauty consultant and she took me to a meeting tonight to be his model. I love the products and you get to buy your own for 50% discount when you become a consultant, but you obviously have to sell the product to make money.
I have a teaching work which is 35 hours per week, but I could use the extra money selling Mary Kay.
Are there any of you out there Mary Kay consultants, consultants past or know someone who is a consultant? If yes, would you recommend becoming a consultant? Why or why not?
In theory, there are two ways to make money in Mary Kay.
i) retail sales;
ii) recruited;
The consultant sells on average less than $ 2,000 per year. Their net incomes from their Mary Kay business is a negative number.
Less than two percent of consultants earn $ 15,000 or more per year before expenses.
Mary Kay does not publish figures on the sales consultant. The MLM industry average is 95% of consultants will be on the MLM within 120 days of membership. There is no reason to believe that Mary Kay has a low turnover. Evidence UnitNet (before it is password protected) implies that the turnover Mary Kay consultant at least the industry average, if not more.
If you have the psychological profile of making retail sales, then it _might_ work for you if you meet about twenty people face to face every day, for the sole purpose of selling their products at their disposal. You will need to provide excellent customer service. This means being ready to find products that have been abandoned. [There are many products sitting in caves, because the consultant had bought shares much more than she could reasonably expect to sell in one decade, let alone a year.]
In general, you can find products on eBay under the "large". Check the seller and verify that the product has not expired before making an offer. There are several reliable retailers eBay Mary Kay products.
From a statistical point of view, you make more money flipping burgers at minimum wage. As an investment, your return on investment is greater than playing on the double zero roulette wheel in Las Vegas.
Good choice Matty Lynn. I know jblake from a Yahoo Groups years. It is always very accurate and informative ... not to mention thought provoking. :-)
His response may also apply to any / all MLM as Arbonne, Tupperware, etc. Report Abuse
Maybe.
Enter this (like all major financial decisions) with both eyes open and your emotions store! Mary Kay is notorious for having their new consultants guiding pressure by placing an order for products original wide.
They will tell you that if you buy product now (it is always now, at the latest), you can return later and get 90% return. This is true, however, once you have it, you'll get the pressure not to return because then you can never be a consultant again.
If you think you'll like direct sales, of course, buy the starter kit for about $ 100. But no, I repeat, do not buy stocks until you've done a few classes and decide if you like. They will tell you, you can not sell the product if you do not have it on your shelf (or in your car). This is not true because I have a friend who did just that!
Good luck to you!
Friends of my mother is a Mary Kay consultant. Not only because it has a lot of travel for meetings and many others. but she loves it. she will get free makeup and big discounts on others. I love their products.
Do not do it! There are so many humans.
