Achilles tendinitis? I was diagnosed with Achilles tendinitis, and received drugs and said rest when it arrives and it is not .. More recently, he has been hurt a lot, even going back to my calf! The other night I was on tiptoes trying to achieve something when I felt the back of my ankle tear .. Gross! I made an appointment with the doc, but what is the normal procedure for this in addition to analgesics and rest? Has anyone had this problem or situation happen to them? How did you go about this doc?
Treatment of Achilles tendinitis (tendonitis)
Rest and application of cold therapy or ice (not directly on the skin).
Wear a heel lift the heel and take some strain off the achilles tendon. This should be a temporary measure pending the Achilles tendon is healing.
See a sports injury professional who can advise on treatment and rehabilitation.
What can a sports injury therapist or doctor?
prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs.
Identify the causes and prescribe orthotics or a change in training methods.
Tape the back of the leg to support the tendon.
Apply a plaster if it is really bad.
Use ultrasound treatment.
Apply sports massage techniques.
Prescribe a rehabilitation program.
Some might be a steroid injection however an injection directly into the tendon is not recommended. Some experts believe it may increase the risk of a complete breakdown.
Scan MRI or ultrasound - see the latest research to learn more.
If you take care of this injury early enough you should make a good recovery. It is important you rehabilitate the tendon properly after it has recovered or the injury will return. If you ignore the early warning signs and do not care for this injury then it could become chronic, which is very difficult to treat.
Cold Therapy Wraps - can be wrapped around to apply cold and compression reduces pain and inflammation.
Arch Support Insoles - or orthotics guy who gave strong support to the arch of the foot can help prevent over pronation and improve foot biomechanics. Pronation of the foot causes the Achilles tendon to bend, which increases the stress on him.
Slant Board - is excellent for applying a precise and progressive stretch the calf muscles. It is easy to identify and difference in the flexibility of the calf muscles by stretching both legs at once. Stretching can be gradually increased and a greater degree of stretching is possible in Achilles covers the ground.
Achilles tendon straps - this is wrapped around the ankle and gentlr apply pressure on the Achilles tendon. It works by reducing the shock and tension in the Achilles tendon in the same summer that the works of a tennis elbow support.
Heel Pads - may slightly raise the heels, which temporarily reduces the calf muscles to reduce stress on the Achilles tendons. also reduces shock may also reduce the tension on the tendon.
Night Splint - is worn at night to apply some very gentle and prevent tightening of the Achilles tendon and plantar fascia. Usually advertised as plantar fasciitis night splints are also great for Achilles and calf muscle flexibility.

Billie77 gave great info. In addition to what I learned from experience to gently stretch the Achilles heel tendon before getting out of bed in the morning and before I am so I sat for a while. This seems to avoid the shock of immediate use.
